Ozone Therapy
painless treatment of caries
There is a new caries therapy in dental care which exploits the curative and disinfecting effect of the ozone. "HealOzone", this revolutionary new method can in the first place be used to entirely cure a caries detected early, without anesthetics, drilling and filling.
How caries develops
Caries develops when the exchange of minerals (mineralization and demineralization) in the mouth is out of balance. During the uptake and metabolism of the food, acid is created in the mouth cavity, which attacks the surface of the teeth, thus extracting important minerals from the teeth (demineralization). On the other hand, minerals are provided for the teeth by the saliva and dental care (mineralization). When demineralization is stronger than mineralization, hard tooth substance begins to decay.
Ozone shower for the tooth
Treatment by the HealOzone therapy is simple and painless: after thorough cleaning of the tooth surface to be treated, the damage caused by caries is surveyed by laser. If damage is within certain limit values, then there is an opportunity for ozone treatment. The area affected by caries is then treated by ozone for about 20 seconds, using a special handheld device. The gas with powerful disinfecting effect kills 99.9 per cent of the bacteria which have caused caries – and it works without removing any of the substance of the tooth. The next step is mineralization. Using a special fluid, essential minerals and fluorides are delivered in high concentrations to the tooth.
Maximum safety
The silicone cap sticks closely to the tooth, and creates vacuum there. This ensures that ozone may only contact the treated part of the tooth, and should not get into the air, so the patient cannot inhale it. When the vacuum is interrupted, an additional safety mechanism immediately turns the ozone generator off. When the treatment is over, the device aspirates the remaining ozone, and turns it into oxygen. What happens after treatment by HealOzone? As a result of treatment by Heal-Ozone, all harmful bacteria, which cause caries, are destructed. Immediately after the ozone treatment, the dentist initiates the process of remineralisation using the fluoride solution. The patient receives a HealOzone patient kit from the dentist for use at home. It consists of a special toothpaste, dentifrice, and mouth spray. All of the three components contain high concentrations of minerals, which are necessary for the tooth. For 4 to 6 weeks after the HealOzone treatment, the teeth must be cleaned twice a day with the special toothpaste, and the dentifrice or the mouth spray should be used after meals, and eating between the meals should be avoided, as well as drinking acidic beverages like fruit juices.
Broad range of application
HealOzone can be used on various applications; it has no known risk or side effect:
- Treatment of caries: decay of the dental neck, caries in the groove, in the root, or caries in the smooth surface
- Avoiding root treatment: for very deep cavities, which almost reaches the “nerve”
- Disinfection of the root canal during root treatment
- Sterilisation of tooth surfaces: when making fillings, or before inserting crowns or inlays
- Treatment for viral diseases: for herpes and thrushes, as early as possible after the first signs.
